Russian GP: Lewis Hamilton storms to pole in Sochi

Championship leader Lewis Hamilton takes pole with Mercedes team-mate and rival Nico Rosberg second at the inaugural Russian Grand Prix.

The championship leader was 0.2 seconds clear of the German as Williams's Valtteri Bottas lost a chance of a front-row spot with a late mistake.

The Finn was fastest after the first two sectors but ran wide at the last corner, but he still took third ahead of Jenson Button and the impressive Daniil Kvyat.
