Get Inspired: "I'm not a mental crazy person doing dangerous stuff all the time!"

Racing downhill at speeds of 45 miles per hour on a bike may be daunting for the majority of us, but for Manon Carpenter, it's how she has spent most of the year.

And for the racer from Caerphilly, it has definitely paid off as she won the UCI Women's Elite Downhill Championship in her maiden year in the competition with a huge 50 point advantage over her nearest rival.

After getting a puncture in the third race of the season, Manon never thought she would recover and ride consistently for the remaining four races.

"It's a personal achievement to know I can perform under pressure", Manon said.
