Get Inspired: Girls flocking to rugby union in England

Female participation to rugby union has increased by 100% since 2004.

A new girls team has been formed at the Vale of Loon rugby club in Lancaster, which could become a growing trend with the popularity of the game soaring since England's World Cup victory last year.

"The more players we get the more the quality of Rugby is going to progress, and the better our England team is going to get" says U20 squad member, Sally Stott.

There are currently more than 17,600 females playing full contact rugby in England, with many others playing non-contact variations. The RFU, aspire to get the figure up to 25,000 by 2017.
