National Croquet Day: Get Inspired looks at how the sport works

Dolly rush, three ducks, wylie peel and the tea-lady... no, we're not speaking in a secret code - this is the language of croquet!

Packed with interesting and unusual vocabulary, the sport requires both a keen mind for strategy and technical proficiency with mallet and ball.

The international version of the sport - Association Croquet - is highly competitive, however, for about half a million people in the UK who own a croquet set, all they need is a garden.
