Lowry pleased with US Open position

Shane Lowry is happy with his performance at the US Open as he reaches the halfway point only four shots behind leaders Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed.

Offaly man Lowry, 28, carded a level-par 70 on Friday despite suffering a double bogey at the 14th.

"I got a bit unlucky at the 14th and pulling my second shot a little bit and getting an awful lie but I'm still quite happy with my position going into the weekend," added the Irishman.
