The Masters: Darren Clarke expects Ryder Cup veterans to regain form

European captain Darren Clarke expects Ryder Cup veterans such as Graeme McDowell, Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood to return to form over the coming weeks as the "meat of the season" starts with the Masters at Augusta.

2011 Open champion Darren Clarke has struggled for form in recent seasons and he admits that his preparations for the Ryder Cup at Hazeltine in the Autumn means that his own golf will continue to take a "back seat" this year.

"At the moment, there are a lot of guys who haven't played Ryder Cup before who are pushing for places," said Clarke, 47.

"But you are getting into the meat of the season now with the majors and the World Golf Championship events taking place and that's where you would expect the seasoned veterans to step up a little bit."
