Olivia Mehaffey relishing 'special' Curtis Cup on Irish soil

Olivia Mehaffey is one of three Irish amateur women's golfers playing in the Great Britain and Ireland team against the United States in the Curtis Cup this weekend.

The competition takes place in Dun Laoghaire Golf Club on June 10-12, only the second time it has taken place in Ireland, and the US have won eight of the last nine contests.

Mehaffey, ranked eighth in the world amateur rankings, world number two Leona Maguire and Maria Dunne spearhead the Irish challenge for a tournament which is a proven breeding ground for players moving to successful professional careers.

The Tandragee teenager told BBC NI's Stephen Watson she's excited to play in front of the home supporters, with 15,000 tickets already sold for the event, and in the Open Championship later this summer before starting college at Arizona State University in August.
