Mehaffey targets number one spot before turning pro

Northern Ireland golfer Olivia Mehaffey says she would like to become the number one female amateur player in the world before realising her dream of joining the professional ranks.

The 19-year-old, currently ranked three and a member of Royal County Down Ladies, helped Great Britain and Ireland to Curtis Cup success over the United States in June.

She is currently undertaking a scholarship at Arizona State University, balancing golf with her academic studies, a situation she describes as "pretty intense".
