Ireland upbeat despite 4-1 defeat by world champions Australia

Stephen Dowds believes Ireland deserve a lot of credit for their performance despite losing 4-1 to top seeds Australia in the World League quarter-final.

The Banbridge player said the team had nothing to lose against the world champions and competed well for the first three quarters.

He insisted they will regroup for the play-off match against Pakistan on Friday and have a good chance of securing the fifth-placed finish which is needed to qualify for the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
