NI trio help GB qualify for Rio Games

Northern Ireland trio Mark Gleghorne, David Ames and Iain Lewers help the Great Britain men's hockey team qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympics.

The GB squad ensured their participation in next year's Games by virtue of reaching the semi-finals of World League 3 in Antwerp, coupled with India's defeat of Malaysia.

India had already qualified for Rio, so the the remaining semi-finalists occupy the three qualification places on offer.

The three are the first Team Great Britain competitors from Northern Ireland to qualify for the Olympics, if they are selected.
