AP McCoy surprised by reaction to retirement announcement

AP McCoy, the 19-times champion jump jockey, says he has been taken aback by the reaction to his announcement that he will retire by the end of the season.

McCoy, 40, has been champion jockey every season since 1996 - his first year as a professional.

He came to his decision to retire after speaking to his agent, Dave Roberts, and owner JP McManus, for whom he has ridden for the past 10 years.
