Monaghan boss O'Rourke says Connolly drugs ban is 'harsh'
Monaghan manager Malachy O'Rourke says county panellist Thomas Connolly has paid a "very heavy price" for his unintentional use of a banned steroid.
O'Rourke believes the the two-year ban handed out to Connolly for taking the banned steroid stanozolol was "a harsh penalty".
"What he did was unintentional and there is a possible appeal in the offing so I don't want to say too much.
"It's been tough for him and I feel very sorry for him. He and his family are very disappointed and frustrated," said O'Rourke following his team's 1-20 to 0-13 Ulster semi-final win over Fermanagh.
"We are delighted to be in a third consecutive Ulster final and it's great credit to the lads. We need to improve to have a chance of winning that but we have four weeks to prepare for it."
