Commonwealth Games Federation President Louise Martin CBE says Northern Ireland's bid to host the Commonwealth Youth Games in 2021 was 'second to none'.
"The plans for an athletes village are already in place so we don't have to worry about the infrastructure surrounding that," she outlined.
"It is about giving the competitors a cultural and educational experience, as much as a sporting one."
The Games will take place from 27 July to 1 August 2021 and up to nine different sports will be involved.
Among those to have taken part in the past are athlete Jessica Ennis and Northern Ireland boxers Carl Frampton and Michael Conlan.
