New IOC president Thomas Bach praises Rogge but has 'own style'

Thomas Bach praises the legacy left by Jacques Rogge, his predecessor as president of the International Olympic Committee, but vows to govern in his "own style".

The 59-year-old lawyer and former fencing gold medallist replaces 71-year-old Rogge, who was in the post for 12 years.

Bach says he will have a "new strategy" on how to deal with issues such as the controversies surrounding next year's Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.
