Great Britain's men's pair Andy Hodge and Pete Reed admit to being taken by surprise by arch-rivals New Zealand at the World Cup event in Lucerne and hint at a move into another boat next season.
The duo lost their 13th successive race to Eric Murray and Hamish Blair and told BBC Sport's Martin Cross they were surprised by the resounding seven-second margin.
The event in Switzerland was the last international regatta before the World Championships in Slovenia at the start of September.
They expect to be together in the pair for the Worlds and are confident of closing the gap on the Kiwis.
But their answers suggested head coach Jurgen Grobler may want to move them back into a four - where they won Olympic gold in Beijing - for next season and the London 2012 Games.
