Vicky Thornley: GB rower 'will not roll over' for rivals to Olympic spot

Team GB rower Vicky Thornley says she "will not roll over" for Olympic medal winners as she bids to secure her place at the Rio 2016 Olympics.

Thornley wants to keep hold of her GB number one double scull ranking to ensure she secures a place with Team GB at the Games in 2016.

The 27-year-old beat London 2012 gold medallist Katherine Grainger in the women's single scull trials earlier this year, and is now partnering the 39-year-old Scot.

Grainger has recently restarted her career after a three-year absence, and Thornley believes she has a good chance of making the Olympics, saying: "If anyone can do it, she can."
