Australia thrash NZ to win World Cup

Australia produced a clinical performance to thrash holders New Zealand 34-2 to win the World Cup at Old Trafford.

The Kangaroos' scored five unanswered tries, and Johnathan Thurston successfully kicked seven times to secure a convincing win in front of a record 74,468 crowd.

Australia avenged their defeat by New Zealand in the 2008 final in Brisbane, and have now won the trophy 10 times.
