St Helens kicked off the summer era in style with a thrilling Challenge Cup final victory against Bradford Bulls at a sun-drenched Wembley in March 1996.
Saints had full-back Steve Prescott, young hooker Keiron Cunningham and inspirational captain Bobbie Goulding; while the Bulls could call on big prop Brian McDermott, Great Britain back-rower Karl Fairbank and skilful Kiwi schemer Robbie Paul. The ingredients were mouth-watering.
The game also marked 100 years of the competition, and was worthy of the centenary.
