IRFU priorities hurting provinces - Stephen Ferris

BBC Radio Ulster rugby union analysts Stephen Ferris and Tony McWhirter believe that the current IRFU structures benefit the Ireland national team to the detriment of provincial sides.

Ulster's hopes of qualifying for the quarter-final knockout stages of the European Champions Cup were effectively ended by a 22-13 defeat at the hands of the Scarlets in Wales on Sunday, their third reverse of the competition.

Ferris argues that the present Ulster squad is not strong enough and more big-name signings are required to allow them to compete with the continent's strongest clubs.
