Ulster players Jared Payne and Rory Best hope for good news when Ireland's squad to face Wales is announced.

Payne recently returned to action after recovering from a foot injury and is keen to be picked for Ireland's opening match of the Six Nations in Dublin on 7 February.

Meanwhile, experienced hooker Best is waiting to hear if he is coach Joe Schmidt's choice to replace Paul O'Connell as the captain of the Irish team.
