Ben Woollaston tells BBC East Midlands Today he is excited to be making his World Championship debut at the Crucible.
The 25-year-old from Leicester earned a spot in the first round draw after getting the better of Ryan Day in qualifying.
Wollaston faces last year's runner-up Ali Carter on Monday evening (19:00 BST), knowing victory in their best-of-19 frames match will secure a dream meeting with four-time world champion Ronnie O'Sullivan.
"It is extra inspiration to win," Woollaston said. "It might be the only chance I get to play Ronnie at the Crucible, and that would be amazing."
Woollaston completed preparations for the event in Sheffield with a practice win over training partner and world number one Mark Selby.
"Mark is a great inspiration," he added.
