Serena Williams offers 'no excuses' for shock defeat

Serena Williams says there is "no excuse" for her shock French Open defeat by Virginie Razzano, the first time the 11-time Grand Slam winner has been knocked out in the opening round of a major tournament.

World number 111 Razzano prevailed 4-6 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 against Williams, who admits to feeling "nervous" and plans to "go back and figure out what I did wrong and learn from it".

Williams will continue to play at Roland Garros in the mixed doubles with partner Bob Bryan, and puts the defeat into perspective by stating "it is disappointing but it's life and things could be a lot worse".
