Ward out despite immense effort

James Ward's bid to reach the last 16 at Wimbledon ends after a 6-4 3-6 2-6 6-3 8-6 defeat to Canada's Vasek Pospisil on Court One.

Wildcard Ward, 28, was playing in the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time and led by two sets to one before eventually losing in three hours and five minutes.

Due to his performance at Wimbledon, Ward breaks into the world's top 100 for the first time and claims the largest pay check of his career - £77,000.
