World silver medallists Imogen Bankier and Chris Adcock have been knocked out of the Japan Open in Tokyo.

They lost out to third seeds Sudket Prapakamol and Saralee Thoungthongkam of Thailand 21-18 21-15.

They had defeated the Japanese pairing of Noriyasu Hirata and Miyuki Maeda in the first round.

However, despite exiting the Tokyo tournament, the duo have received a rankings boost thanks to a run to the quarter-finals in China last week.

Bankier and Adcock have climbed a place to 15 in the rankings - three below Nathan Robertson and Jenny Wallwork, who lost in the first round.

Scotland's Robert Blair and England's Gabby White move up three places to 21.

The top-ranked pairing next May will qualify to represent Britain at the London Olympics.
