Jersey are favourites to win badminton medals at this summer's Island Games, according to fierce rivals and 2013 gold medallists Guernsey.
The Sarnians have just announced their squad for the 2015 games, which are being held in the island.
Jersey have former England internationals Mark Constable and Mariana Agathangelou in their squad.
"It's going to be quite tough because Jersey have got ex-England players," team member Danny Penney said.
Jersey beat Guernsey in the inter-island Gilson Cup for the first time since 2010 earlier this month and Penney says Constable, who won Commonwealth Games gold in 2002, should win the men's singles.
"I think he's going to wipe the floor with everyone because he's an ex-England number one and ex-national champion," Penney told BBC Radio Guernsey.
"Locally we'll just try and get to as many finals as we can. I'd like to get to a medal stage in the men's doubles and mixed doubles."
Guernsey's hopes have not been helped by reigning men's and women's singles gold medallists Paul Le Tocq and Elena Johnson not taking part.
It means the reigning team gold medallists have a young side with three debutants including 16-year-old Chloe Le Tissier.
"The two previous games we've had Paul Le Tocq and Elena Johnson and they've been quite crucial in the team events, they've managed to bring home the games they've played, so it's going to be a big step up for the players now."
