England's Commonwealth champions Chris and Gabby Adcock have reached the quarter-finals at the World Championships in Indonesia.

The married mixed doubles pair beat Denmark's Mads Pieler Kolding and Kamilla Rytter Juhl in three sets.

Marcus Ellis and Chris Langridge had earlier won in the men's doubles in Jakarta.

This meant England secured two last-eight berths at a major championship for the first time since 2007.

The Adcocks, ranked seventh in the world, beat the Danes 21-16 16-21 21-10 in 50 minutes.

Chris, 26, said: "It's fantastic to have two doubles pairs playing on quarter-final day - it shows great progression from the squad."

The Adcocks will play China's Liu Cheng and Bao Yixin for a place in the last four at the Istora Stadium.
