Leicester Riders have signed forward Frank Holmes to help soften the blow of losing captain LaTaryl Williams to a knee injury for the rest of the season.
Holmes, played for MK Lions in the BBL last season, averaging 14 points, 7 rebounds and 1 blocked shot a game.
This season Holmes played for Inter Bratislava in Slovakia but their season is over so he is a free agent and joins subject to international clearance.
"We are fortunate to get Frank at short notice," said coach Rob Paternostro.
"Frank is a high energy player, and I thought last season with the Lions he was one of the better interior players in the BBL.
"It is always difficult bringing in a player at this stage of the season, and integrating him in the team will take a little time. But he has flown straight in and trained with the squad so hopefully he can make a big contribution.
"Frank has a lot of knowledge of the league and a great deal of ability, so we feel good about the move."
If the clearance comes through on Friday as expected, Holmes will line up for the Riders for their weekend double-header
Leicester host Essex Pirates on Saturday night at the John Sandford Centre and also travel to Chester Jets on Sunday evening.
