The Mersey Tigers will enter the new season under new ownership after Southport businessman Steve Brookfield took sole control of the club.
The Tigers won three trophies last season but chief executive Gary Townsend has left the club.
The Merseyside team are also set to reveal details on a new playing venue for next season.
A club spokesman said: "The key motivation was to retain a professional basketball presence in Liverpool."
He added: "Not only that, but to ensure the development of the sport in the area.
"We aim to kick on the community side of the club and already have started to work closely with various organisations in the community, with the ultimate aim of ensuring there is a basketball team in every school in Merseyside."
Over the past two months, Tigers' players David Aliu and James Griffiths have been touring schools across Merseyside, giving taster basketball sessions and talks.
