Plymouth Raiders lose BBL Cup semi to Newcastle in overtime
Plymouth Raiders almost caused the biggest upset of the season as they forced Newcastle Eagles to overtime in their BBL Cup semi-final second leg.
The Raiders won the regulation four quarters 89-72 to force overtime as they levelled the tie on aggregate.
But the Eagles fought back in overtime to ended up losing the game 91-83 to go through 190-181 on aggregate.
Matt Schneck top-scored for Plymouth with 28 points while Colin O'Reilly scored 24 and Jeremy Bell got 14.
It was a great recovery for the Raiders after their disappointing and it was only the second time this season that the Eagles have been beaten in any competition.
But Plymouth bounced back 48 hours later as they brushed aside Worcester Wolves 87-65 at the Pavilions to go clear in fourth place in the BBL Championship.
Javarris Barnett scored 24 points and Mike Ojo recorded 23 as Plymouth recovered from an eight-point deficit at the end of the first quarter.
