Giant teenager Satnam Singh Bhamara has made history as the first India-born selection in the NBA draft.

The 19-year-old centre, who was the 52nd overall pick, stands 7ft 2in tall and will play for the Dallas Mavericks, who were champions in 2011.

Bhamara comes from Ballo Ke, a small village with a population of 800.

American centre Karl-Anthony Towns, 19, was the draft's celebrated first pick and will play for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

He averaged 10.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.3 blocked shots a game last season for the University of Kentucky.
