Worcester Wolves have added former Leicester Riders guard Jay Couisnard to their roster for the forthcoming British Basketball (BBL) season.

The 6ft 6ins American, 27, spent two years with the Riders, winning the treble in 2012-2013 and is Wolves' fifth close-season signing.

"This is a signing I've been chasing all summer," Wolves head coach Paul James told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"I think he's going to be a fantastic player for us."

During his time with Leicester, Couisnard led the Riders in scoring, averaging more than 16 points and five rebounds and two assists per game.

After a year in Europe with French side Union Basket La Rochelle Couisnard is back in the BBL and James is sure he has pulled off a coup.

"It's a major signing," he said, "He does it all - he's a great defensive player and can score in multiple ways.

"He's multi-talented and a winner."

Couisnard joins Ashton Khan, Malik Smith, Javier Mugica and Perris Blackwell at Wolves as James looks to rebuild his squad after retaining only one player from last season.

Wolves begin their BBL season against Glasgow Rocks on 18 September.
