Scott Quigg has backed fellow boxer John Murray to come back from his first ever professional defeat on Saturday.
The 26-year-old Mancunian was stopped in the eighth round by Dagenham's by Kevin Mitchell in Liverpool.
Quigg, who defends his WBA superbantamweight intercontinental title on Saturday, expects him to return stronger.
Quigg told BBC Radio Manchester: "I was gutted for him, I thought he was going to pull it off. He'll bounce back."
Murray's professional record now reads 31 wins and one defeat with 18 victories by knockout.
Mitchell has promised Murray a rematch if he goes on to win the world title, and the fight's promoter Frank Warren also believes Murray has a bright future.
"It's not the end of the world, he'll come back in September and I'll give him a fight and get him back on track again."
