Hull bantamweight Luke Campbell brushed aside a hostile home crowd in Azerbaijan to win his first bout at the World Championships.
Campbell, from the St Paul's gym, beat Rahim Najafov 17-7 in Baku, knowing that three wins should be enough to reach next year's London Olympics.
"It was his 24th birthday and it was a great birthday present," Campbell's coach Mick Bromby told BBC Look North.
"He had a tough one with it being a home boxer and he did the business."
Campbell will now prepare for his next fight, scheduled for Monday (3 October).
