Ferndown lightweight Iain Weaver's Olympic hopes are still alive after winning silver at the Strandja Cup.

Weaver, 22, was beaten 11-10 by home favourite Luben Todorov, and queried the scoring of the Sofia judges.

"I'm getting sick of this amateur scoring, easiest fight I had this week, won all three rounds and ended up losing 11:10," Weaver wrote on Twitter.external-link

But despite losing, his performances in Bulgaria should see him named in the GB squad for April's Olympic qualifiers.

Great Britain boxing chief Rob McCracken will name his squad for those qualifiers, to be held in Turkey, in March, with Weaver battling Martin Ward for a place at the 2012 Olympics.

Elsewhere, fellow GB squad member Fred Evans won gold, while Andrew Selby took silver and Luke Campbell bronze on Saturday.
