Callum Johnson delighted by 'clinical' first-round win

Benington light-heavyweight Callum Johnson kept up his 100% professional record with a first-round stoppage of Tommy Tolan at the Braehead Arena.

Johnson unleashed a flurry of powerful shots from the off, with Tolan's corner throwing in the towel after 90 seconds.

"It was a clinical performance," Johnson told BBC Lincolnshire.

"I knew it could go like that if I relaxed and got my shots off because I can really hit but I didn't expect it to go quite so quickly if I'm honest."

The light-heavyweight bout was on the undercard of Ricky Burns' WBO lightweight title fight at Glasgow's Braehead Arena, where three of Johnson's four professional bouts have been held.

"I felt really good in the changing rooms beforehand, really relaxed," said Johnson. "It was packed and it was on live TV and seeing all those fans made me perform.

"It's nice to showcase my skills in front of all those people and it can only do me good. A performance like that will make people stand up and take notice."
