Lee Haskins will fight Japanese boxer Ryosuke Iwasa for the Interim IBF bantamweight world title in his hometown of Bristol.
The 31-year-old will take on Iwasa because reigning IBF champion Randy Caballero is unable to defend his crown after sustaining an ankle injury.
Caballero beat Darlington's Stuart Hall last October to claim the title.
Haskins, the European champion, will have home advantage at Bristol's Action Indoor Sports Centre on 13 June.
"It's amazing to finally land this world title shot," he said. "At times I thought it would never come - when other British fighters I had beaten got their chances.
"And when the IBF announced I was to fight Ryosuke Iwasa, a Japanese fighter, I presumed we would probably have to travel to Japan.
"I know this is going to be a tough fight, but I've never lost in Bristol and, with that massive West Country support behind me, we can make history on 13 June."
