Skill is an important part of boxing:- but so is the ability to handle pain, distress, and sometimes injury.Physical danger is part of the sport much more than in most other competitive endeavours.Perhaps eventually this will mean that boxing can no longer be accommodated with our increasingly health and safety aware world. But the problem won't disappear just by ignoring it.
"huge mushroom on a very small stork and you basically can't control it". So are we talking margarine or wading birds? I think the journalist's interpretation of Dr Turner's comment is more surrealist than Dr Turner intended. Is mixing up homophones a symptom of concussion?
I'm afraid the modern woman seems to have very little grasp of the 'we'. It's all about the 'me'. Narcissism amongst females is at frightening levels, but there's such a simple solution - we make sure that EVERYTHING is equal. Females can share the ring with men, lose children in divorce 50% of the time, serve the same prison sentences as men... the list goes on.Patriarchy? Don't make me laugh
Wouldn't the difference in concussion levels between men and women have a lot to do with our different skulls? The male jaw has clearly been better designed to take a blow than the female jaw, and the male brow line is also much more pronounced than the female one.
As for equality, if either Taylor or Adams hit me I would suffer concussion, minimum.
this is a double dged sword.I f women want to have the same earning capability than men then they should participate equally, 5 sets of tennis, 12*3 minute rounds etc. If this is too much for them then accept it and accept the lower rate of coverage and monies.Equality is a fantastic thing but there are limits due to sex.

Women more susceptible to concussion? Surely it can't be true. I have been blindly believing that men and women are absolutely equal, as the BBC keeps telling me this is definitely the case. Now I am starting to suspect that men and women may be physically very different and therefore aren't both as capable in certain physically demanding roles.Men v women in Deadliest Warrior anyone?
Wonder what will happen when female boxers start dieing from brain injuries?
So long as the women who box are informed, understand and accept that they are at higher risk of concussive and other brain-damaging injuries, then I have no problem with them fighting over 3 minute rounds and having 12 rounds per match.
I say if female boxers want 12*3 they should get it, just be aware of the consequences
This comment was removed because it broke the house rules. Explain
Beach Volleyball, now real women play that.
Equality is a myth if you separate male and female bokers
