Boxing: Dereck Chisora defeats David Price at O2 Arena

Dereck Chisora stopped fellow Briton David Price in the fourth round of a frenetic heavyweight clash at The O2 in London - then targeted Ukraine's Oleksandr Usyk.

Former world title contender Chisora, 35, unsettled Price at the end of the third round with two right hooks and unloaded again in the next round to send his opponent to the canvas.

Although a dazed and wobbled Price, 36, got up during the count, his corner threw in the towel to end the fight.

Usyk, 32, was the undisputed cruiserweight champion before he moved up to heavyweight this year.

He won his first fight in the division earlier this month when he defeated Chazz Witherspoon, a late replacement for Tyrone Spong who had returned an adverse doping test.

David Haye, the former two-weight world champion who now manages Chisora, told Sky Sports: "I like the Oleksandr Usyk fight. That would be a fantastic fight.

"If he fights Oleksandr Usyk, he's right up there for a heavyweight title shot. A title shot is what he wants."

Earlier, ex-IBF featherweight champion Lee Selby beat former three-weight world champion Ricky Burns on points.

Elsewhere on the undercard, Lawrence Okolie took the European cruiserweight title from Belgian Yves Ngabu, who had a 20-0 record.

The fight was stopped in the seventh round after the 26-year-old landed a left hook and then a big right hand which left Ngabu unsteady on his feet.

"I could hear him get more and more tired," Okolie told Sky Sports. "If I hit any cruiserweight on the chin then they're going to go."

"I believe he will breeze his way to a world title," added promoter Eddie Hearn. "Watch him become a world champion in 2020."

Another Briton, Conor Benn, defended his WBA continental welterweight title with a fourth-round knockout of Belgian Steve Jamoye.

Benn, 23, the son of former middleweight and super-middleweight world champion Nigel Benn, ended his opponent's night with a fierce right hook.

While I accept David Price hasn’t fulfilled his potential as a fighter, I am bemused by lots of the comments posted here. Just wondering if any of these so called pugilistic experts have ever got in a ring and bravely faced live punches being thrown at them. David Price has shown a great heart coming back from adversity and deserves respect for that. Also Olympic medals are always well earned.

David Price is a class act and is full of heart. Getting in the ring shows he has heart. His issue is, as mentioned by someone earlier, anxiety. No he’s not a nasty person but that dosent mean he won’t knock you out. Many an opponent of his would testify to that. The mental energy burnt with anxiety simply takes away peak physical performance. A real shame as the man has all the skill. Thanks DP

Used to have such high hopes for Price, everyone used to think he would wipe the floor with Fury when they were both starting out.

Whilst Tyson has gone on to the next level, Price looks haunted by anxiety.

Massive respect for even stepping in the ring, but please for the sake of your health, time to hang up the gloves.

Price needs to retire before he seriously gets hurt.he had no aggression tonight way to passive .I think it's a mental thing.he always looks very weak which can be caused by performance anxiety.as stated by others he's a lovely guy and it's a shame it hasn't worked out for him .but tonight sadly was very predictable all the best

Price was never world class. He could dig but was found wanting on chin and stamina. Well done his corner for saving him from the enevitable ko.

This was billed as a potentially career ending fight for who ever lost tinight. I think this is the end of the line for David Price, onwards and upwards for Dereck Chisora.

Lovely guy Price. Perhaps too lovely for Boxing. Had all the tools but none of the aggressive, heart or chin required. Got exposed everytime he stepped up beyond British level.

Time to call it a day.

What did we learn from the fight? Price will come again, but will be a British level gatekeeper. Maybe fight Gorman or Hughie Fury after a warm up. Chisora is a world level gatekeeper and comes to scrap, but is too aggressive to beat the elite level boxers. He has a good chance against Parker, not so sure against Usyk.

Was an absolute joke for Chisora to complain about being B-side. How often do we see these days, two undefeated world champions, number 1 and 2 in their division, going at it in a unification world championship bout. It's laughable that a guy who has never beaten a top 10 boxer with 9 losses on his resume has the cheek to complain being underneath that level of fight.

In the early days, post Olympics, I thought Price could make waves in the heavy weight division, I think confidence and fitness let him down.
Chisora is a mouth, a slugger who gets under peoples skin with the crap he comes out with.
Both would be and have been, found out by better boxers. Domestic level, nowhere near world level.

Problem with boxing is there’s no 2nd career so all these also-rans (not an insult) have to box way past their prime, causing more and more damage to themselves and the reputation of the sport. If only there were year long pantomimes that the old boxers could be retired into - not everyone can do celebrity master chef etc.

Hearn should run a farm, guaranteed jobs for these big strong men.

Spot on mate. Chisora is not class at all, it was a fight to get to a pay day, nothing more. Lets hope Price retires now before he gets seriously hurt.

David Price is a gentleman, I've met him at the college I work at, he just about got through the door, a real gentle giant. He's a qualified plumber, time to dust off the tool bags Pricey

Price should have started to throw the right to keep Chisora off. I think he's been hypnotized but glad he got pulled out and hopefully he will retire. Potential to make a good nightclub bouncer . Goodbye to the Great Scouse Hope.

Lol at people saying Price isn't suited to boxing. How many achieve Olympic bronze, commonwealth and European gold and win the British Heavyweight title? Perspective.
