Pregnant Lee McConnell targets Glasgow Commonwealth Games
Lee McConnell will not compete this year as she is expecting her first child but she hopes to run on home soil in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The 34-year-old reached the 400m semi-finals at the 2012 Olympics and has two Commonwealth Games medals.
Looking to 2014, she said: "I would ideally love to be back on the track, but it is going to be a big challenge.
"It will depend on how the pregnancy and birth goes, but either way I will certainly be keen to be involved."
McConnell won a Commonwealth 400m silver medal in Manchester in 2002 and picked up a bronze in Melbourne four years later in a switch to the 400m hurdles.
"2014 is shaping up to be a really exciting year for me," she added. "And it's all happening in Glasgow! A home Commonwealth Games, my first baby - I'm really excited."
McConnell's last major medal came as part of the Great Britain 400m relay team which finished second at the 2011 European Indoor Championships.
