A superb Huw Waters five-wicket bowling display helped inspire Glamorgan to a comfortable 281-run friendly win over Cardiff Combined Universities.

The seamer went for just six runs as his five wickets, plus two apiece for Graham Wagg and Robert Croft, reduced the students to 46 when chasing 328.

Opener Will Jones was the only student to reach double figures after captain Alviro Petersen hit 63 on his Glam bow.

Mark Wallace scored 43 in Glamorgan's second innings of 203-9 declared.

Croft had scored a century and Ben Wright 51 as Glamorgan ended their first innings on 303-8 declared before the Combined Universities replied with 179 all out, with Jones hitting 51.

But Glamorgan dominated the second-innings ahead of their County Championship opener with Leicestershire on Friday.

Glamorgan squad: GP Rees, WD Bragg, AN Petersen (c), MJ Powell, BJ Wright, J Allenby, GG Wagg, MA Wallace (wk), RDB Croft, DA Cosker, AJ Shantry, HT Waters.
