Derbyshire's late-order batsmen held firm as they secured a draw with Leicestershire on a tense final day.
Resuming on 17-0, the visitors were seven wickets down and needing 39 runs to avoid an innings defeat midway through the afternoon.
But Greg Smith's half century plus Azeem Rafiq and Tim Groenewald's ninth-wicket partnership of just 15 in 22 overs helped them reach 236-9.
With 15 minutes of play remaining the two sides shook hands on a draw.
Derbyshire were struggling on 163-7 with 40 minutes remaining until tea but Smith then put in a defiant display, reaching his 50 in 88 balls before being caught by Paul Dixey off Nathan Buck.
Rafiq scored just 18 off 122 balls and was caught by Will Jefferson off Matthew Hoggard, while Groenewald ended on nine not out.
