Gloucestershire hold the edge as their County Championship match with Middlesex goes into the final day.
Resuming on 296-4, Neil Dexter, who added only 16 to his overnight score in making 72, and Ollie Raynor (54) helped Middlesex to 406 all out.
Veteran paceman Jon Lewis (5-65) then took his first-class tally to 750 with his 34th five-wicket haul.
After Ian Cockbain's 72, the hosts fell to 128-5 but Chris Taylor (60no) saw them to 218-5 at the close, 170 ahead.
DAY THREE SUMMARY
BBC London 94.9's Kevin Hand:
"Middlesex appear to have a let a very strong position slip, with Gloucestershire snatching the balance of power.
"Trailing by 48 runs at the start of their second innings, Gloucestershire looked in all sorts of trouble at 128-5 on a pitch that was increasingly returning inconsistent bounce.
"But Chris Taylor once again defied the conditions and, despite a swollen knee, followed on from his century in the first innings with a solid, unbeaten 60."
