Taufeeq Umar closed in on a century as Pakistan built a commanding lead on the third day of the second Test against West Indies in St Kitts.
Pakistan closed on 202-3, a lead of 251, as Taufeeq moved to within three runs of a fifth Test ton.
At times, Taufeeq rode his luck as he led Pakistan's charge at Warner Park.
The hosts had battled through their tail but were eventually dismissed for 223 before lunch, handing the visitors a 49-run first innings lead.
The hosts started the morning on 184-8 with Kemar Roach and Ravi Rampaul going strong.
The pair added another 34 - and 60 in total, the highest partnership of the match - before Roach departed for 29.
Mohammad Hafeez and Taufeeq started brightly with the latter looking particularly impressive before lunch, reaching 39 not out from just 49 balls.
But Taufeeq was dropped twice before he reached 13 and again on 94, as the West Indies contributed to their desperate position with several misfields.
Azhar Ali (53) made his second half century of the match, adding 76 with Taufeeq for the second wicket.
Pakistan will hope to wrap up the second Test when play resumes on Monday.
