Lancashire have signed Pakistan left-arm seamer Junaid Khan, initially for the remainder of their FL T20 campaign, subject to registration.
The 21-year-old, who has played seven one-day internationals, was in the Test squad for the recent series against the West Indies.
Cricket director Mike Watkinson said: "Junaid is a hot prospect who was recommended by Wasim Akram."
There is also scope for Lancashire to play Khan in County Championship games.
Lancashire started their Twenty20 campaign without an overseas player after Farveez Maharoof was called up by Sri Lanka for the current Test series against England.
Watkinson added: "Like Farveez Maharoof, Junaid joins us on modest terms with an incentive to play county cricket in the hope of furthering his international ambitions."
Head coach Peter Moores said: "Junaid is an extremely talented cricketer who will supplement our seam attack.
"He bowls with good pace and variation and we look forward to working with him."
