|Durham 187-8 (20 overs) beat Nottinghamshire 154-8 (20 overs) by 33 runs|
Phil Mustard struck a Twenty20-best 75 as Durham inflicted a first FL t20 defeat of the season on Nottinghamshire at Chester-le-Street.
Mustard, backed by Ian Blackwell (43), hit two sixes and 11 fours in his 41-ball knock to help his side post 187-8.
Adam Voges (46) and Riki Wessels (32) put on 68 for the second wicket to give Notts hope.
But after they were dismissed in successive balls, Notts fell away to 154-8 to lose by 33 runs.
Mustard's efforts helped Durham race to 145-2 in 13 overs but they lost their way as Darren Pattinson (3-31) ripped through the middle order, while Blackwell and Dale Benkenstein were among three men run out.
Nottinghamshire took 20 off Graham Onions' second over to blast their way out of the blocks and towards a fifth win in six games.
But the game turned in Durham's favour in the 12th over when Voges clipped Blackwell to Paul Collingwood at mid-wicket before David Hussey ran out Wessels the very next ball as he tried to get off the mark.
Wickets then fell regularly as Notts slumped to 128-6, before Chris Rushworth took two in the final over of the match to finish with 3-20.
BBC Newcastle's Martin Emmerson:
"This was a great win against Notts, the group leaders, but let's not get carried away.
"Durham need to build on this now and, with the crucial return match on Thursday, they need to keep their composure.
"There were a few of us in the ground thinking 187 may not have been enough, particularly when Durham were looking to easily get past 200, but thankfully they defended their total well.
"The visitors were always behind the run rate and the game petered out into a comfortable home win."
