Half centuries from Alex Hales and David Hussey helped Friends Life t20 North Group leaders Nottinghamshire secure a 54-run victory over Durham.

Hales made 67 off 39 balls while Hussey smashed his way to 54, hitting four sixes, as the hosts reached 213-4.

Steven Maullney and Darren Pattinson claimed three wickets apiece as Durham were bowled out for 159.

Nottinghamshire's total was the highest by any county against Durham in the domestic Twenty20 competition.

Hales, who hit eight fours and two sixes, will have impressed England selector James Whitaker as he got Nottinghamshire off to a flying start with a 58-run partnership with Riki Wessels (31), before adding another 72 with Adam Voges (39).

Needing 10 runs an over, Durham were unable to recover after being reduced to 69-5.
