Yorkshire spin bowler David Wainwright will join Derbyshire on a one-month loan on Saturday.
The 26-year-old will act as cover for Tom Knight who is part of the England Under-19 squad for the one-day series with South Africa.
Pontefract-born Wainwright has taken 77 wickets in 33 first-class appearances.
But he has found first XI opportunities limited at Headingley this summer, with Adil Rashid and Azeem Rafiq ahead of him in the pecking order.
Derbyshire head coach Karl Krikken said: "Looking at David's record and watching him bowl it is clear he has all the attributes to be a very effective cricketer.
"A month of first-team cricket with Derbyshire will give him the opportunity to stake a claim. If he does that everyone will win from this loan deal."
