Lancashire captain Glen Chapple is hoping to make his return from injury at Nottinghamshire on Sunday.
The 37-year old has been out of action with a hip injury that has meant he has missed thirteen matches in all competitions.
Chapple told BBC Radio Lancashire: "It's a bit of a rare injury that apparently nobody has seen torn before, but it is just a muscle tear.
"It has reduced in size and I should be fit soon."
In his absence, Lancashire have kept themselves in the county championship title race - although they have been beaten by title rivals Durham home and away - and also remain in touch with the top four places in the T20 table.
Chapple said: "We were well within our rights not to have any pressure on us at the start of the season, with many people saying we had a weak squad if anything.
"But at the same time our supporters demand success and want the team to do well. We know that and know they've got a right to expect that as well."
You can hear Nottinghamshire against Lancashire on BBC Radio Lancashire 855 and 1557 AM, DAB and bbc.co.uk/lancashire from 2.30 this Sunday afternoon.
