LV= County Championship - Division One, Scarborough
Close of play, day three: Worcestershire 168 & 332, Yorkshire 367 & 80-3
Yorks 7pts, Worcs 3pts
Rich Pyrah starred with the ball as Yorkshire closed in on victory over Worcestershire at Scarborough.
The visitors faced an innings defeat when they resumed on 82-4 but Gareth Andrew (57), Saeed Ajmal (47) and Jack Shantry (47no) pushed the total to 332.
Pyrah took 4-91, while Ajmal Shahzad (3-77) and Ryan Sidebottom (2-53) also played their part.
Yorkshire closed on 80-3, needing only 54 runs to win, with Joe Root unbeaten on 31 and Jonny Bairstow 12 not out.
Earlier, the last three Worcestershire wickets put on 161 to delay Yorkshire's charge towards what would be only a second Championship win of the season.
But when Alan Richardson (31) was bowled by Sidebottom, the home side's passionate supporters scented a three-day victory.
Yorkshire began their run chase after tea and soon suffered a setback, as Adam Lyth was run out by a direct hit at the bowler's end from Richardson after Root had called for a second run.
Root was dropped at slip by on 19 but Richardson accounted for Anthony McGrath and Ajmal lured Andrew Gale forward for him to be stumped.
Root and Bairstow saw Yorkshire to the close, with 54 more runs needed for victory.
