St Just beat Paul to win eighth straight Vinter Cup
St Just have won the Vinter Cup for a record eighth straight year with a seven-wicket win over Paul at Camborne.
Paul made 127-5 in their 20 overs as Ryan Edwards top scored with 54.
In reply St Just made their target with nine balls to spare as Gary Thomas (53) and Rob Cook (45) amassed an unbroken partnership of 89.
"Fantastic performance, we beat a very good Paul side but I think we showed our class at the end," St Just captain Mark George told BBC Radio Cornwall.
"Gary Thomas and Rob Cook we're a different level of cricket really. We're glad to have them on our team."
George, who praised the club which has dominated Cornish cricket for the best part of a decade, is unsure whether anyone will match his side's achievement again.
"To win eight Vinter Cups will not happen again, I can't see it," he said.
"Most of this team went to the same school, played for St Just Under-10s and Under-16s. It's not a case of them coming in from all directions.
"Yes we've had one or two from overseas and Rob (Cook) lives in Penzance, we're lucky to have him, but most of the team has come through Cape Cornwall school."
